It's hard to walk away from anything that becomes part of your routine. Even harder when, despite dwindling numbers, you form a connection with so many other people. Hard to say goodbye. Ultimately, goodbye does come...whether you initiate it or it is forced on you. I still remember seeing the image in that screenshot Akiha posted, as well. It was saddening. Some of my most enjoyable online gaming has come from being a part of this community. Most of you here today don't even know who I am, and that's ok. I mattered once, like so many others who have left these hallowed halls. It's depressing to be here, really. I stop in on occasion for a trip down memory lane, but it's like riding through the neighborhood you grew up in and most everyone has moved away. It's the same address, but it's not even close to being the same. I picture Will Smith in "I Am Legend" standing in a deserted NYC Times Square. It used to be bustling, full of life and energy. Now...emptiness. God, I remember the first CC with La Famiglia being so prominent and offering so much entertainment in the forums. What was the name of that paper and casino thing? I remember the Freemasons being huge. I remember a lot of other groups and heavy forum activity. A lot of conflict, interaction, and challenge. I loved it all. I could go on. We even had a lot of fun at the start of CCv2. I remember battling Chacho and IoA for control of NYC and the Mayorship. I loved the competitions between my newspaper and the others that were being published. The thing Rayham and Hysterian did was awesome, too. I could name countless examples that would turn this post into a chapter of a novel. This place was ALIVE! I came back a couple of times over the last few months, but that sinking, depressing feeling isn't what I play a game for. It's easy to say "do something about it" but the truth is that the game was either never strong enough, or appealing enough, to maintain a larger player base. Given that only a small percentage of any game are ever the ones that are actually active in the forums and bring it to life, there's nothing that the handful left hanging on, not yet ready to say goodbye, can do to make it like it ever was. I do miss so many of those that were here and I miss the ones that are still here, which is why I peek in from time to time. My old buddy, Seele Jager, was often my closest friend in this game and as a result, sometimes the one I despised most. We had our tiffs, but this post deserves a shout out to him. o/ Take care, everyone. Reagan |

Nice to see you again Reagan, even if it is only briefly.  It is true that nothing in the universe lasts forever - not even the universe itself if some theories are to be believed. All we can do is give things our best shot with the time allocated to us. |

Now that I think about it, the last time I roleplayed as hard as I had in this game was nearly seven years ago. It was a very different character. If the game still had the breath of life in it, even if Paris was the way it currently is, that would've been enough. From the very start, even before I had fleshed out my plans for Paris, our place in the global arena was in my long-term goals. Not necessarily to gain power, but to just have a place in the world as a irrepressible bastion of liberty. Either way, Paris having rode off into an ever-expanding hedonist horizon of gambling seems like a fitting end for a place of such idealism. :P |

Reagan, I wish you were still here in a more active capacity. But I fully understand that sinking feeling. I've been left wondering many times over and over why I am still here. And the truth is, it is because of some very deep friendships that have formed over time. However, friendships can only keep one in a game for so long before someone becomes too bored with it and decides it isn't worth their time. Those friendships formed will hopefully be beyond the game.... By the way, did you delete your fb account? I seem to have misplaced you.
