I wanted to suggest an idea for the CCv2 community to form a court system. This court system would be managed by the community as a whole. We would create different positions in side the court, example Judge and Public Defenders. The positions we make up would be voted on with polls. The nominees would accept of deny the nominations, then post their platform for why they should hold the position in the Court. I think this could be helpful to argue in a controlled mediated environment. It could also be fun to establish the court system for RP proceedings and or to help with community disputes? Community members could make filings with the court requesting their arguments be heard and maybe a discussion mediation with the community members involved? Feedback ideas would be awesome and helpful. |

I like it. Have a judge and jury for criminals rather then just a cop or mayor act as both. Also would be a way to impeach current Mayors if seen fit, rather then have to deal with him/her for the full 30 |

Well the court system as a suggestion for in-game would be killer. This idea is more of a community forums type RP court system. What I mean is, it wouldn't be an in-game feature but a forum for community members discuss arguments with a mediator. |

Exactly what role would this play in the game, given that the crimes are automatically reported and the perpetrator is recorded in his criminal history, even if a warrant is issued for that individual? They're already assumed guilty for the crime with or without a jury. I can only see this act to determine the length of the prison term and help in the process of advising Mayors to sign warrants that are issued by the court. In a higher court setting, this would serve to enact the bylaws of the city, but this is already done outside of the game. I'm not seeing where it changes anything else, no offense.

Shouldn't this be in suggestions? But this is a good idea. |

It's not an in-game suggestion though... It's like back when Mel and I ran the public trial on BK (ancient history, I know) The point is that it's for things that the game might not determine to be 'illegal', but our social group may have determined needs to be reviewed... Chacho, I think this could work, but we'd need some sort of dedicated discussion 'moderators'... I'd offer, but I haven't been quite as active as I have in the past.. |

Chacho's posting it here as it's not an in-game coding suggestion (though we'd like it to be), instead it's an RP based proposal with the communiting impementing the idea and doing the groundwork [edit] damn you schro :p Edited by Travis Bickle, Jul 2 2010, 10:38 AM.

I am liking this idea very much, but no polls because people never take them seriously. |

The inability to nominate oneself is ludicrous. It only reinforces such a thing as just a popularity contest. I would rather have a situation where everyone has nominated oneself. |

I agree, thank you, Saltpeter. I'm also in accordance with your suggestion of never having polls to do with this Justice System, Captain. Edit: I nominate myself for a Prosecutor position and Saltpeter as a Public Defender, if he would take the position. I will consider nominating Schroedinger for a Judge seat once his old activity is restored.

If you're against the no self-nominations rule, then it is probably because you feel like people wouldn't nominate you or vote for you. If that is the case, then you shouldn't be a judge anyways. A judge in this community is someone that everyone should be able to respect and trust, that people would come forth to nominate, rather than be forced or asked to do so. I think self-nomination should be against the rules, if we were to have this. |
