No faction on CC, in the history of the game, has really resembled those in CN. When CC1 first popped up, there was a good sized crowd of immigrants from CN who tried to make sister organizations here with the same ideals/motives/systems and they failed HORRIBLY. This discouraged a lot of the CN vets and they inevitably gave up and left. It's not fun coming from being on top to being way behind the pack, apparently, which is what they did when they migrated over to CC.

What people need to get through their heads is the fact that CC and CN are two entirely separate games with zero relevance to one another. The sooner people cope with that, the sooner we can play CC for what it is, that being a stand alone game.

Back to the point I am trying to make - Solaris, Freemasons, and every other CC organization were nothing like anything you'd find in CN. The ways we measured faction success in CC had little to do with in-game statistics either, at times. Yes, most of the time the forum powers were also in the top slots in-game, but it never really quite mattered. That alone makes this game entirely different flavor-wise than CN, where in order for a faction to be successful, you must have massive in-game strength and influence.

That's just simply not the case with CC.

(on a side not, that is something we've been wanting Kev to work on since the first days of CC1 - integrating the player created factions into the game mechanics more.)
Agreed that they are entirely different games. The difference between group-based success and individual success is the most dramatic. In CN I generally have a crappy nation and have instead devoted all of my time and energy to ensuring my faction is in the lead. There is still some of that here, of course, but I keep having to remind myself that I need to build capital for myself too.

Either way some of us imports are enjoying the challenge and don't mind going from super-power to newb. It's been fun. Some of us are partially responsible for creating the CN superpowers, so this isn't so much of a drastic change in power as much as a reboot and chance to build things up again.

Yea I don't really see the point of joining in-game groups/organizations other than political parties because personally I'm comfortable with just this nice and cozy forum.
